<li>1 spoon <strong>coriander powder</strong></li>

<li>A small <strong>onion</strong> – cut into small pieces</li>

<li><strong>Salt</strong> – just a little (as much as you like)</li>
</ul>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="600" height="400" src="https://shandigi.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Tasty-Green-Millet-Kichidi.png" alt="Green Kodo Millet Khichdi : Ingredients, how to make it?" class="wp-image-4363" srcset="https://shandigi.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Tasty-Green-Millet-Kichidi.png 600w, https://shandigi.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Tasty-Green-Millet-Kichidi-300x200.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="how-to-make-it">How to make Green Kodo Millet Khichdi?</h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="step-1-wash-and-soak-millets-and-da">Step 1: Wash and Soak Millets and Da</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Take <strong>1 glass millet</strong> and <strong>1 small cup dal</strong>. Put them in a bowl. Now, wash them well with water – <strong>2 or 3 times</strong>. After that, pour clean water and <strong>soak it for 30 minutes</strong>. This makes them soft and easy to cook.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="step-2-start-cooking-in-a-pan">Step 2: Start Cooking in a Pan</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Take a cooking <strong>pan or pot</strong>. Add <strong>1 spoon sesame oil</strong>. Let it heat a little. Now add the <strong>dal</strong> first. Stir it. Add a <strong>tiny bit of turmeric</strong>. It gives yellow colour and is good for our body. Then add <strong>chopped onions</strong>, <strong>green chillies</strong>, and the <strong>garlic-ginger paste</strong>. Mix it well. Let the smell come – it smells so yummy!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="step-3-add-green-leaves">Step 3: Add Green Leaves</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Now add the <strong>spinach leaves</strong> and <strong>coriander leaves</strong>. Mix them gently. They will become soft in 2–3 minutes. These greens are super healthy!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="step-4-add-soaked-millet-and-dal">Step 4: Add Soaked Millet and Dal</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Now, we can take the soaked <strong>millet and dal</strong>, and put them in the pan. Mix everything well with the veggies. Add <strong>3 cups of water</strong> for every 1 cup of millet. This much water helps it cook nicely.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="step-5-add-flavour">Step 5: Add Flavour</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Now we can add <strong>dhaniya powder</strong>. it gives us a nice taste. Add <strong>a little salt</strong> – not too much. Stir everything slowly and gently.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="step-6-cook-it-well">Step 6: Cook It Well</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Now close the pan with a lid. Let the water <strong>boil</strong> and the khichdi cook. After some time, the water will be gone. But don&#8217;t stop! still, cook for <strong>a few more minutes</strong> ( 2 to 3 minutes). Now it&#8217;s ready – soft, hot, and green! <h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="what-is-teff-flour">What is Teff Flour?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Most of the people believed that the Teff <a href="https://shandigi.com/different-types-of-millets-in-telugu-weight-loss/" data-type="link" data-id="https://shandigi.com/different-types-of-millets-in-telugu-weight-loss/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">millets</a> are the oldest millets. They have been using them for 6,000 years. Among all the grains, Teff millets are said to be the very small-sized millets. These are very tiny seeds of the Teff plant. Nowadays it&#8217;s getting attention due to its nutritional benefits and versatility. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="400" src="https://shandigi.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Teff-millet.png" alt="teff millet flour benefits: what is teff" class="wp-image-2633" srcset="https://shandigi.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Teff-millet.png 600w, https://shandigi.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Teff-millet-300x200.png 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Teff flour is made from teff plant <a href="https://shandigi.com/seeds-health-benefits-in-telugu/" target="_blank" data-type="link" data-id="https://shandigi.com/seeds-health-benefits-in-telugu/" rel="noreferrer noopener">seeds.</a> These seeds are very common in Africa. These grains are extremely small, like the size of a poppy seed. These tiny grains are ground into powder to make teff flour. This flour is typically a light brown color. This flour can be available in white and red colors. The flour is naturally gluten-free, like all other millets. That&#8217;s why it can be used by the people who are suffering with celiac disease.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Teff flour can be used in a variety of dishes, from baking to cooking. This grain provides rich nutrients and replaces the traditional wheat flour. You can make bread, pancakes, muffins, or other baked goods; it is an excellent choice for your diet.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Ethiopia is the largest producer of this teff <a href="https://shandigi.com/different-millets-for-weight-loss-and-diabetes-uses/" data-type="link" data-id="https://shandigi.com/different-millets-for-weight-loss-and-diabetes-uses/">millet</a>. It is generally grown in the months of July to November. It is very difficult to handle because of its small size.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="types-of-teff-millets">Types of Teff millets</h3>
